SILVER SPRING, Md. — Firefighters rescued a person trapped inside a burning home in Silver Spring.
The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services said they responded to a fire in the 2500 block of Holman Avenue.
When crews initially arrived, neighbors said they believed the woman was still inside the home. Later, firefighters found her and transported her to the hospital, where she is in serious but stable condition.
Authorities say they believe a second person was inside the home during the fire and managed to get themselves out.
Officials said there were no working smoke alarms inside the home and the fire caused significant damage. As a result, the family will likely be displaced.
Crews found hoarding-like conditions inside the home as shown in photos from the scene.
